Connecticut Water to Expand Maine Operations

Posted on by Carlos

The Main Public Utilities Commission recently authorized the acquisition of the Biddleford and Saco Water Company (Biddleford) by Connecticut Water Services, Inc. (CTWS). Biddleford serves aproximately 16,000 customers and is expected to be merged into Maine Water Company (formerly Aqua Maine), which CTWS purchased earlier this year, to form the largest investor-owned water company in the state. As part of the settlement agreement, CTWS committed to create a customer advisory council to assist Biddleford in identifying and prioritizing capital investment and infrastructure needs, and to the sole use the water from the Saco River for regulated water service.
